World Cup 2030: Things I Believe Nigeria Needs To Do For Us To Be Able To Host This Event

 As every Taiwo, Chukwuebuka and Ibrahim are aware; anyone who has been to Nigeria can bear witness to the fact that the majority of the population (particularly the male population) have a strong liking for the game of football or soccer (as some individuals will call it). 

Any sports fan who has been following the news for quite some time knows that the next country that will be hosting the next world cup; which is the 2022 world cup event, is none other than Qatar (a country known for its vast oil and mineral resources deposits). 

Unfortunately for us; according to the information that I was opportuned to come across on Wikipedia; the 2026 world cup (which historically is the 26th world cup) hosts are none other than three (3) North American countries which includes: The United States of America, Canada and finally, Mexico; and the football matches to be played will be hosted in 16 different venues (host cities) across the 3 countries chosen. 

Now, Nigeria bagging the ticket to host the 2026 world cup is already out of the picture and as such, that leaves us with the 2030 world cup which according to the information gotten from Wikipedia, has not yet had any hosts attached to it by FIFA. 

To me, I believe this is a great opportunity for Nigeria to reveal to the world why she is regarded as the giant of Africa; and to be able to do this very well; I believe it's high time we look into the countries that are hosting the world cup and try to grab or learn one or two things from them and for this article; I will be using Qatar (The 2022 world cup host as an example). 

Just like Qatar, Nigeria also has its fair share of oil and mineral deposits; but sadly, whilst the latter seem to make out meaningful gains from her resources, my beloved country's own case seems to be the reverse; and I believe it's high time we put an end to this. 

We (Nigerians) needs to see to it that our resources are being directed towards the building or erection of a good number of stadiums that are worthy of FIFA's validations and standards. 

Furthermore, we need to make sure that all our roads are in good condition; all the potholes filled and all the parts affected by erosion and landslides fixed!. 

Coming over to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria; I strongly believe that for us to be able to bag the right to host the 2030 world cup, we need to see to it that we make sure the annual budget allocated to defence within the country is increased; and as such hire or train as much security operatives (whom are well paid) that will be always ready to tackle the issue of insecurity within the country.  Portraying ourselves as a safe country for one to visit (especially to foreigners) might Increase our chances of hosting the 2030 world cup.

Finally, I strongly believe that if all the points written within this article were to be carried out; it won't be long until we (Nigerians) etch our names in history as the second African country to have ever hosted a world cup event.
