Adam Forshaw may now have six weeks to fight for his Leeds United future with him needing to prove to Jesse Marsch why he can still put in a shift.
The midfielder is 31 and is no longer the player who could run from box to box for 90 minutes every week and he’s aware of that as well.
Along with that, he’s had a number of injury worries of late and it has been difficult for the manager to count on him due to his lack of availability.
According to LeedsLive, Forshaw will have a training camp and friendly games over the next few weeks to prove to Marsch why he must not be sold in January or the summer.
His current deal runs out at the end of the season, but the Whites have the option for an additional 12 months so they could exercise it and then sell him in the summer.
Alternatively, a January sale does not appear to be a bad option either but there seems to be interest in his services from top EFL sides. [Dean Jones, November 2022]
With some of Leeds’ players on international duty and the regulars deserving a breather for a few days, Forshaw is definitely one who would be in line for minutes in the mid-season break.
He has been recovering well from his injury and should be able to at least play for a half per game before he regains his match sharpness.
