In line with the news report from CNN International news agency; they revealed that Taliban claimed on Sunday that a Daesh hideout was targeted in an early morning operation in the Sayed Abad area of Zaranj city in the west of Afghanistan.
The clash operation started at around 5:30 am and continued for over an hour a Taliban police spokesman Gul Mohammad Qudrat said.
He did not comment on the number of casualties but said that all Daesh members were killed in the operation.
But the Taliban-run directorate of information and culture in Nimroz said that two Daesh members were killed and another was arrested in the operation and that “no civilian was harmed.”
According to Ikramullah, a Zaranj City inhabitant, a gunfight broke out at around 5 am, followed by the use of heavy weapons by both sides, causing the clash to persist for more than an hour.
He added that the Taliban even occupied rooftops of residential buildings in the vicinity and began firing indiscriminately, causing chaos among the locals.
On the other hand, a source from Zaranj public hospital reported that eight injured individuals were brought to the hospital after the incident, four of whom are in critical condition.
The source confirmed that the wounded in the incident included two children, aged six and four, one woman, and five men. While one Taliban member was slightly injured, the woman and the two children were in a critical condition and in a coma.
Moreover, the Taliban have allegedly cautioned the hospital staff against disclosing any information concerning the clash's victims or fatalities.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban had announced another operation against a Daesh hideout in Zaranj city last week.
