Police Operation in Anambra Leads to Kidnappers' Hideout Raid, Victim Rescue, and Recovery of Weapons

In a significant operation, the Anambra State Police Command has successfully dismantled a kidnapping gang and rescued a victim in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.


According to a statement by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the command, released on Thursday, September 14, 2023, the police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilante members, received information about the kidnappers' hideout while on patrol.

The statement reads, "Operatives of the Anti Kidnap Squad of Anambra State Police Command have dismantled yet another kidnapping gang, this time in Nnewi Ichi. The Squad, on patrol with vigilante personnel on September 13, 2023, received information about the location of the kidnappers' hideout and swiftly raided the premises."

During the operation, a kidnapped victim was discovered in the hideout and subsequently rescued. The victim was promptly transported to a hospital in Nnewi for necessary medical attention. Additionally, one of the suspected kidnappers was apprehended.

The police operatives also successfully seized one Pump Action Gun and two locally fabricated hand grenades from the hideout.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, commended the police operatives and local vigilante members for their effective collaboration in combating criminal activities. He urged them to maintain their efforts to reduce crime to the minimum, ensuring that people can move about safely in the region.
