GAZA STRIP - On Tuesday, Hamas' military wing confirmed that a targeted Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip claimed the life of one of its senior commanders.
Identified by his alias Abu Ahmad, Ayman Nofal held a key position within the general military council of Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, overseeing operations in the Central Gaza region, as stated by Hamas in an official announcement.
Nofal's demise marks a significant development in the ongoing Israeli offensive, representing the highest-ranking Hamas militant casualty thus far.
The Israeli military corroborated Nofal's elimination, underscoring his stature as "one of the most influential figures" within the organization, according to a statement released by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Just days prior, the IDF and the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) jointly disclosed that ISA intelligence, in collaboration with IDF fighter jets, executed targeted operations within the Gaza Strip. This resulted in the termination of Billal Al Kedra, identified as the "Nukhba commander of the forces in southern Khan Yunis, who was responsible for the Kibbutz Nirim massacre."
