President Joe Biden has refuted claims suggesting the possibility of U.S. military involvement alongside the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the event of an escalation in the Gaza conflict. The Times of Israel had reported on Wednesday afternoon that "Biden officials have indicated to Israel in recent days that if Hezbollah initiates a war against Israel, the U.S. military will join the IDF in fighting the terror group."
During a press interaction while refueling at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, President Biden responded to the Times of Israel report, stating, "Not true. I've never said that."
The president also disclosed that he had engaged in discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, leading to an agreement to open the Rafah gate bordering Gaza, thereby facilitating the delivery of approximately 20 trucks of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population.
Furthermore, President Biden revealed that he had posed probing questions to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and emphasized the importance of conducting military operations in Gaza in accordance with established rules of warfare.
"I was very direct with the Israelis. While it's true that Israel has suffered greatly, it's imperative that, if they have the means to alleviate the suffering of those who have nowhere else to turn, they should seize that opportunity. Should they fail to do so, there may be repercussions that are perceived as unjust," he asserted. "My message to all is this: When you have the chance to alleviate suffering, you must act, unequivocally. Failing to do so risks eroding your credibility on a global scale."
