Turkish President Erdogan Criticizes UNSC's Inaction Amid Gaza Crisis

ANKARA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has voiced sharp criticism towards the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for its failure to pass a resolution facilitating humanitarian aid access to Gaza in the face of relentless Israeli assaults.

Erdogan expressed his dismay, stating, "The UNSC, which has become completely ineffective, has once again failed to fulfil its responsibility," during his address on Wednesday, following an Israeli airstrike on Gaza's Al Ahli Arab Hospital that resulted in the tragic loss of at least 500 lives.

Describing the assault on the hospital as "heinous," Erdogan emphasized that it has elevated the gravity of the Gaza crisis, condemning the act as "a crime against humanity and tantamount to genocide against the people of Gaza."

In his remarks, the Turkish president also decried Western nations, noting their emphasis on human rights and freedoms, yet their perceived inaction in alleviating the suffering of Palestinians, which he characterized as "adding fuel to the fire."

Erdogan firmly stated, "Those who have poured fuel to the fire with the statements they have made since October 7 are as responsible for yesterday's massacre as the perpetrators."

He underscored the alleged "war crimes" committed by Israel over the past 12 days, citing attacks on "innocent individuals seeking refuge in so-called 'safe zones', border crossings, places of worship, educational institutions, and civilian settlements."

Furthermore, Erdogan directed criticism at certain international media organizations, accusing them of engaging in a race to validate the massacres through biased and hypocritical reporting.

The situation continues to escalate in Gaza, prompting heightened scrutiny from the international community. Updates on the evolving crisis will be provided as events unfold.
